Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has continued its work providing rapid responses and lifesaving services throughout the pandemic, with support from Staffordshire business communications provider, Fusion Communications.

Fusion Communications began supplying Midlands Air Ambulance Charity with its mobile connectivity solutions in 2013 following a drop in service levels from the charity’s previous provider.

In the last year, the business has worked to ensure the charity’s mobile connectivity and hardware allows the team to always remain in contact so it can provide vital critical care for patients as quickly and efficiently as possible.

In addition, Fusion Communications has provided the team with data sims which are used to aid communication with the helipad light control at the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity airbases.

Karen Kingham, finance director at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We operate three air ambulances across six Midlands counties. Having a reliable mobile connectivity service and a dependable provider is especially important to our charity in allowing the team to communicate effectively and treat patients as quickly as possible.

“Every second counts in an emergency, and it is crucial that the team can stay well-connected, no matter where they are. To get the crew to scene to start treating patients, each minute costs £156 by air ambulance, and £20 by critical care, so time is of the essence.

“Fusion Communications’ service has always been reliable and responsive, with any issues solved immediately. The Fusion team understand the importance of our mobile connectivity service and, both before and during the pandemic, have always been on hand to support us further when needed.”

Midland Air Ambulance Charity has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and, in this time, its team of dedicated flight paramedics and doctors have responded to over 62,000 incidents.

Oliver Rowe, founder and CEO of Fusion Communications, said: “It is an honour to support Midlands Air Ambulance Charity in the amazing work they do across the Midlands.

“Having worked with the charity for eight years, we have witnessed the true importance of a well-integrated mobile connectivity system for critical care providers, and how quick and efficient communication between the team can help save lives.”

Established in 2013, Fusion Communications manages the communications for 250 small to medium businesses, including Birmingham Royal Ballet, Shackletons and APC Technology Group PLC.

The business offers a variety of communications solutions, including business mobiles, hosted and unified communications, fixed line and secure device management.
